The emergency room provides initial assessment and treatment for trauma victims. It is always open and as such serves
as an outpatient department on weekends and after hours. The majority of patients treated in the emergency room are
treated at out patient level. The room has capacity for 6 patients in the observation rooms. Patients with internal
injuries, such as head, chest, abdominal injuries and fractures, or who require surgery for internal medicine conditions
are admitted to the Surgical Wards.
The services offered at the Eye Clinic include:
-Preventative, promotive, curative, and rehabilitative eye care
-Health education
-Refraction on minor cases
-Minor surgeries (incisions & drainages)
-Monthly consultations by visiting an Ophthalmologist
-Complicated cases are referred to St Theresa’s Clinic
This department offers radiological investigations to in patients and out patients from the hospital,
other public and private health institutions. The department is able to perform ultrasounds and x-rays.
The hospital hopes to expand the infrastructure to accommodate a CT-Scanner and mammogram.
-Pre-visitation of all elective or planned surgical patients prior to surgery
-Provision of general anesthesia intra-operatively
-Provision of regional anesthesia, especially spinal or plexus blocks
-Provision and control of sedation management>
-Intra-operative patient management and monitoring
-Pain management intra and immediately post operatively
-Assistance in difficult vein cannulations in other departments
-Assistance in emergency situations, for example, CPR or endotracheal intubation

The RFM ICU & Renal Unit are equipped with the best of equipment in the
21st century. It is believed that this equipment will improve healthcare delivery
to the nation. In the past few weeks, all ICU & Renal Unit staff members, as well as
other cadres of the healthcare team had an opportunity to undergo training on various equipment.

The services offered by the laboratory include analysis of blood, sputum, urine and stool samples.
Private doctors from Manzini and the Lubombo region, and NGOs such as the Luke Commission, Hospice at
Home and Medicine Sans Frontiere also refer patients to the hospital for laboratory work.

Male circumcision services are offered for both neonatal and adult clients.
Pregnant mothers are offered the opportunity to circumcise their newborns free of
charge through this UNICEF sponsored program. Adults aged from 10 and upwards are
offered circumcision services free of charge through the support of PSI.
A booking system is in place for all circumcisions.

Services offered at the MCH Clinic include:
– Growth and Development Monitoring
-Immunization
-Family Planning
-Antenatal and Postnatal Care
-Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission (PMTCT) services, including Children’s HIV testing
->Pediatric HIV Management at Baylor’s Clinic
-Neonatal Circumcision

The mortuary has a small capacity since, which has ebbs and flows depending on the
functionality of the refrigeration. The bodies of deceased patients, who have no known
relatives, or whose family members are unable to afford the charges of a private mortuary
are kept here. The mortuary staff also assist in the surgical out patient department,
applying plaster of paris to fractures.
